The Terengganu government has high hopes for its football teams, Terengganu and T-Team, to win one of the major football titles this season.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman said this was because the Terengganu team would be competing in the Premier League, while T-Team, in the Super League.

"We hope that they will fight tooth and nail to bring home one of the much awaited titles for the supporters," said Ahmad Razif to reporters after introducing the state football and hockey teams and the launch of their jerseys here on Saturday.

To achieve the desired target, Ahmad Razif, who is also Terengganu Football Association president, said there would be a 40 per cent change of faces among the players to strengthen the teams.

However, Ahmad Razif also said the association would not compromise with any players who did not display good performance or were involved in disciplinary issues.

He also hoped that the players would pick up the good vibes from sensational player Mohd Faiz Subri who did the nation proud through his wonder goal.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Razif said over RM30 million more was now needed to cover the costs for both teams but the association had yet to decide on the exact allocation it would channel to each both teams.

"We have allocated about RM39 million for the two teams last year and this year, we expect the number to be increased with contribution from our sponsors," he said. -- Bernama
