Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) deputy president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah wants all state football associations (FAs) to set up integrity committees to check match-fixing.

Tengku Abdullah said they must treat match-fixing and corruption seriously because it would not only tarnish the image of national football but also Malaysia.

"I feel the setting up of the committee must be made compulsory not only at national level but also at the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) level because it (match-fixing) is already a global phenomenon.

"So, set up the committee as soon as possible and a programme to outline its tasks," he told reporters after confering awards in conjunction with the 82nd birthday of Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang to 221 recipients at Istana Abu Bakar, here, today.

Newspapers today reported that four FAs had confirmed setting up integrity committees as demanded by FAM to combat corruption in football. They are the FAs of Selangor, Perak, Johor, Selangor and Sarawak.
