Crimes relating to 'cyber love' involving women victims in the country are increasing yearly.

Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Department, Multimedia and Cybercrimes Division investigation officer ASP Mohd Syafiq Jinuin Abdullah said last year, 1,646 such cases were reported involving losses of more that RM56 million.

"In 2014, 1,015 cases were reported with losses amounting to RM52 million," he told reporters after an International Women's Day event here today.

He said most of the victims were aged between 35 and 45 years, mostly rich single mothers.

The perpetrators were mostly Africans who snared their victims through Facebook, e-mail and Skype, he added.
