The Federal Territories Ministry is providing free food for lunch and dinner daily to the 1,850 occupants, mostly foreigners, at the Selangor Mansion and Malayan Mansion, both at Jalan Masjid India here, during the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

Its minister, Tan Sri Annuar Musa said based on investigation and census conducted by the Health Ministry (MOH) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) on residents of both apartments, most of the units there were occupied by foreigners and they were without kitchen.

"Investigation found that many of the occupants do not cook as the kitchen area is turned into a room to stay...most of of them eat out or bring back cooked food to eat.

"Most of the foreign residents are Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Indian nationals. Although they are not (Malaysian) citizens but the issue on food for them has to be resolved," he said live on his Facebook today.

Meanwhile, Annuar said work on several development and construction projects such as the MRT and highways in the federal capital has to continue during the Movement Control Order (MCO) for safety reasons.

"Since there are city folks who complained about work still in progress at some construction sites, I wish to clarify that some exceptions are given (to continue work) for construction that is considered critical, especially involving underground work.

"At the MRT underground project site, for example, they (workers) dug tunnels and the work cannot be stopped because of concerns on possible sinking holes and landslides.

"For safety precaution, the construction companies are to comply fully to the guidelines given by DBKL, the Public Works Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Department," he added.
