Pokok Sena MP, Datuk Mahfuz Omar will arrange for a teleconference to be held between the former premier, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and ex-police commando, Sirul Azhar Umar.

This matter was informed by Mahfuz himself after a closed door meeting with Sirul’s mother, Piah Samad and Dr Mahathir on Wednesday.

It was reported that former Batu Kawan UMNO vice-president, Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan had also joined the meeting.

It was also learnt that the closed-door meeting took place at Yayasan Perdana in Putrajaya at approximately 4pm.

“I hope Sirul will be able to tell everything to Tun during this telephone conversation which I will arrange again together with Tun.

“I believe if Sirul can explain everything to Tun ... I believe Tun knows what he has to do,” said Mahfuz to reporters during a press conference held at the Parliament lobby today.

Mahfuz who is also PAS Central Information chief however denied to comment when asked if he knew of any secrets which Sirul might be keeping.

“I cannot provide any comment on the question. Let it remain a secret between Sirul and myself,” he added.

Mahfuz said Piah is hoping that Dr Mahathir would be able to help Sirul in order for him to begin a new life.

He also stressed that the meeting had to be kept confidential from the media as to not allow any problems to occur.

During the meeting, he said, Dr Mahathir had urged for an investigation to be made since Sirul had worked for him before.

“Tun also repeated yesterday that it is not wise for Sirul to be hanged when a confession has been made... he was only following orders... thus it is only appropriate for Tun to say that an investigation has to be made again,” said Mahfuz.
