KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat sitting for this morning session was unusually quiet without the presence of opposition members of Parliament.

The matter was raised by Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd Isa (BN-Tampin) who intervened during the question and answer session.

"No one from the opposition is present today," he said.

Due to their absence, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul allowed three supplementary questions to be posed compared to the usual two.

Six questions listed in the Order Paper and raised by the opposition MPs to the ministers had to be skipped.

It is understood that the opposition MPs are attending the 'Selamatkan Syariah' rally at the Palace of Justice grounds in Putrajaya today.
