RMAF mounts mercy flight for two babies with heart ailments

KUALA LUMPUR:The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) mounted a mercy flight from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday for two babies who needed to undergo surgery at the National Heart Institute (IJN).

RMAF in a statement today said the two babies, both boys, namely Mohammad Zayan Hafeez Abdullah and Muhammad Zul Aris Muhammad Zainulariffin were just three months and a month old respectively.

According to the statement, Mohammad Zayan Hafeez suffers from Mixed Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Drainage (Unobstructed) while Muhammad Zul Aris is afflicted by Clinical Down Syndrome and that they had received treatment at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Kota Kinabalu.

“Accompanying them were their mothers, a medical officer and two nurses. The aircraft left Kota Kinabalu at 7.04 am and arrived at the Subang air base at 9.41 pm,” the statement said.

It added that the A400M transport plane used was piloted by Lt Col Nazlan Shah Zainal who was assisted by co-pilot Capt Noor Mohamad Farhan Mohamad Noor.

They were also assisted by Air Flight Sergeants Norfadley Saad and Nazmil Hafis Mohamad Nayan and two technicians, namely Air Corporals Mohd Yazid Sapeei and Muhammad Haziq Shaharuzaman.

“All at RMAF pray for the babies’ speedy recovery," the statement added.

Agong tiba di Singapura bagi lawatan negara

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim dan Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah berangkat tiba di Singapura pada Isnin bagi mengadakan Lawatan Negara selama dua hari ke republik berkenaan.

Lawatan Negara itu adalah yang pertama sejak Seri Paduka Baginda menaiki takhta pada 31 Januari lalu dan ia merupakan jemputan Presiden Singapura Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
