UMNO Deputy President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has denied allegations he had conspired with opposition leaders to overthrow the government headed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He said, there were claims that he had conspired with Selangor Menteri Besar, Mohamed Azmin Ali and Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng to overthrow the government, which led to his dismissal as Deputy Prime Minister.

“They said my dismissal was not because I had raised the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue, but because I had wanted to topple the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak),” he said after officiating the Petaling Jaya UMNO Youth delegates’ meeting on Sunday.

Muhyiddin stressed, throughout his 40 years in UMNO, he had never betrayed the party and stayed true to its struggles in the search for the truth and for the people.

“I have served the government for 37 years and throughout that period I have shouldered my responsibilities for my religion, race and country.

“I have used this platform to voice out my views and opinion and also advised the people and also the country’s leaders apart from announcing the government’s plans which have been made to benefit the people,” he said.

Muhyiddin said, the 1MDB issue is a serious matter, to the extent that Wall Street Journal even published a report on it.

“This issue is on everyone’s lips at all times. As UMNO deputy president and also Deputy Prime Minister at the time, why can’t I voice out my opinion?” asked Muhyiddin.

Muhyiddin also said he fears no one in his quest to uphold the truth.

At the same time, he urged delegates to not be afraid in voicing out their opinions and standing by their principles as long as they are sincere in their struggles.

“If something is against our principles, do we kept quiet because we are afraid of losing our position? If that’s the case, then it will be the 'recipe' that will lead to the fall of UMNO.

“We are here not to satisfy our own needs, but to fight for the people who have put their trust in us to lead them. I am willing to accept whatever comes my way but I will not keep quiet until all these problems are resolved,” he said.
