Niaga SPOTLIGHT: World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day 2026 | Investing in prevention

Nearly five women in Malaysia are diagnosed with Cervical Cancer every day. Families face treatment bills, lost earnings and the demands of Caregiving.

Malaysia had an estimated 1,740 Cervical Cancer cancer diagnoses and 991 deaths in 2020. Yet, Cervical Cancer could become the first cancer eliminated globally as a public health issue through vaccination, screening and timely treatment.

What would investing in prevention mean for women, employers and the healthcare system? And how do we reach women for whom even a free screening appointment means transport costs, childcare and a day’s lost pay?

In conjunction with World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day 2026, Tehmina Kaoosji speaks with Selina Yeop Jr, Dr Khoo Su Pei and Dr Yeoh Chit Cheng on cervical cancer prevention, patient support and access to healthcare for underserved communities.
