Fire breaks out at Sultanah Aminah hospital

A fire has broken out at the emergency ward at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA), Johor Bahru on Tuesday morning.

Six patients in the ICU of the hospital perished, while another one was rescued during the fire.

The fire at the ICU wards, located on the second floor of the five-storey building took the lives of six patients under treatment there. - JPBM

Husband torches house in Ipoh after quarrel with wife

A father of three children torched their rental house at Jalan Bendahara, Ipoh following a quarrel with his wife.

His action caused five other homes to be razed by the fire.

Indonesian handed 20 years in 'poisoned coffee' murder

An Indonesian woman was jailed for 20 years Thursday for murdering a friend from an Australian college with poisoned coffee in a "sadistic" fashion, capping a sensational trial that has gripped the country.

Cargo train slip disrupts north-south KTM line

A cargo train slipped off the track at KM200.332 Kota Bharu-Lahat, Batu Gajah near Ipoh early Friday, disrupting Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) services on the north and south line.

KTMB in a statement said the train was headed for Tasek from Kuang, Selangor to collect a load of cement when the incident happened at 3.15am.

There were no casualties in the incident which occurred at 3:43 am as the 41 train carriages were not carrying passengers. -Twitter Bernama

Fire destroys SMK St Teresa's hall in Kuching

The upper storey hall of a 131-year-old all girls' secondary school at Jalan Tun Openg Kuching was destroyed in a fire.

The Teresian Hall of SMK St Teresa, which was being upgraded, houses text books, PA systems as well as new chairs and desks worth RM200,000 that were donated by its former students.

Kuching Zone Fire and Rescue chief Tiong Ling Hii said the department received a distress call at 5.09pm before despatching 40 personnel from three stations.

Two drown in Tanjung Dawai boat mishap

Two people drowned while 11 others have been found safe after a passenger boat on its way from Tanjung Dawai to Pantai Merdeka in Sungai Petani capsized.

It is believed that the boat with a skipper and 12 passengers capsized after it hit the anchor chain of a trawler at around 10.30am.

Kedah crowned 2016 Malaysia Cup champion

Kedah's Red Eagles football squad emerged as the victors of the 2016 Malaysia Cup after beating Selangor 6-5 in a penalty shootout.

The dramatic decider took place after 120 minutes of exciting football ended with 1-1 draw.
