The fare rates for Rapid KL city rail services, namely Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), Monorail and Rapid Transit Bus (BRT) will be back to normal as of Sept 1.

Commuters have been enjoying a 50 per cent discount since July 18.

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Zohari Sulaiman said consumers could however still enjoy up to 20 per cent discount on cash fares by using cashless modes such as MyRapid Touch n Go or other Touch n Go cards.

"Frequent commuters can also purchase special cashless packages such as "Smart 7 "or" Smart 30" which offer additional discounts, tailored to their suitability and travel patterns," he said in a statement today.

Zohari said the company would continue to introduce new initiatives for passenger comfort and supported the government's aspiration to increase 'modal share' for public transport to 40 per cent by 2030.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when opening the second phase of the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line on July 17 announced a 50 per cent discount on all MRT, LRT, BRT and Monorail rides from July 18 to Aug 31.
