Three people, including an 18-day old baby boy, died in an accident involving a Perodua Kancil and an MPV at Kampung Chica Kubang Kerian this morning.

Two others were badly injured in the 7.30am accident.

The deceased have been identified as Zabidah Dollah, 49; Siti Maimunah Abdullah, 35; and her son, who is yet to be named.

The driver of the Kancil, Mohd Noor Ghazi, 38, and the driver of the MPV, Kamarizan Mat Yaman, 32 were being treated at the Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, HUSM in Kubang Kerian.

Kelantan Police Chief, Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said that the four relatives in the Kancil was heading from Kubang Kerian to Pasir Tumboh.

Jalaluddin said that the Kancil was said to have changed directions from the right to the left lane to make a U-turn.

At the same time, the woman driving the MPV could not avoid the Kancil in time and rammed into, and dragged the smaller vehicle into an electrical pole nearby a sundry shop.

Zabidah and her baby died on the spot while Maimunah, who herself worked as a nurse at HUSM, perished by the time she was sent to HUSM.

The family in the Kancil was said to have just returned from the 'cukur jambul' ceremony for the baby boy at the house of Kelantan Menteri Besar, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat. They were from Kampung Tanjung Stan.
