KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has congratulated his successor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his appointment as the 10th Prime Minister.

Ismail Sabri, in a post on his official Facebook, also expressed his highest appreciation to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah for consenting to Anwar's appointment.

Ismail Sabri also thanked Keluarga Malaysia and civil servants especially frontliners for their support when he was serving as the ninth Prime Minister.

"I truly appreciate the support of Keluarga Malaysia in helping my administration in dealing with challenges and ensuring Malaysia remains on the path of health, political and economic recovery.

"I pray that this new government will be able to maintain the country's political stability and sustain its economic growth," he said.

Anwar, 75, was sworn in today as the new Prime Minister before Al-Sultan Abdullah at Dewan Singgahsana Kecil, Istana Negara here.
