PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB) has set a target to achieve 90 Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for 2022 based on the Rural Development Policy (DPLB) 2030, said Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.

He said the selected KPI programmes represented eight main thrusts under the DPLB namely human capital, entrepreneurship, economic, infrastructure, delivery system, housing and regional development, youth and women.

He said some of the selected KPI programmes for this year were new programmes and there were also programmes that had been implemented in previous years.

Mahdzir said the achievement of the 2022 KPI would benefit 950,000 rural residents as well as Orang Asli nationwide.

"Our focus in 2022 is on the outcome and impact (of the programmes) on rural community and the Orang Asli," he said in a statement today.

Mahdzir said the ministry would also place emphasis on finding solutions to expedite the implementation of rural projects within the prescribed time period.

"We are in the era of social media speed where people's problems are being highlighted which need immediate action from the ministry," he added.

He said the KPLB 2022 strategic direction meeting held in Penang from Feb 9 to 11 had agreed to lay the foundation for the implementation of the Kampung Sejahtera initiative under its village transformation programme.

"To realise the Kampung Sejahtera concept, programmes under all sectors and agencies under KPLB need to be viewed holistically," he added.
