JASIN: The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI), through the Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (FAMA), is committed to continuing with the Malaysian Family Cheap Sale Programme (JMKM) throughout the country for the benefit of consumers and entrepreneurs.

Deputy Agriculture and Food Industry Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad Hamzah said since JMKM was organised, as much as RM176,000 in savings had been obtained by the more than 30,000 visitors.

"A total of 22 programmes, which offer savings of up to 20 per cent, were carried out from Aug 20 to 28, recording a cumulative sales of RM893,000.

"This programme supports the Federal Government's efforts in balancing the inflation rate, especially controlling the increase in the price of goods more efficiently and effectively, while also helping to reduce the financial burden, especially of the low-income group," he said.

He told this to reporters at the Melaka JMKM Programme organised by FAMA. Also present was by FAMA director-general Datuk Zainal Abidin Yang Razalli.

The early birds who arrived at the programme got the opportunity to buy essential items, comprising sugar, flour, 2kg cooking oil and a packet of 5kg rice for only RM20, from the normal price of RM33.40, but is limited to only 100 buyers.
