Pahang police have detained seven suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of a victim known as Zul Badak in front of a restaurant at Lorong Tun Ismail, near here, last Friday.

According to Pahang CID chief Datuk Raja Shahrom Raja Abdullah, the suspects, aged between 25 and 45, were detained in and around Kuantan.

"The suspects will be remanded for seven days starting today to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code since the case has been classified as murder," he said when contacted, here today.

In the 2.45am incident, Zul Badak or Arzurizan Abdul Rahman, 39, an activist of a non governmental organisation in the district was shot in the neck, chest and hip by masked men who later escaped in a Proton Waja car that displayed the registration number of a motorcycle.

The victim died at the scene.
