GEORGE TOWN: The Penang State Legislative Assembly today unanimously approved a motion to express solidarity with the Palestinian people for the cruelty and tyranny of the Israeli Zionist regime.

The motion presented by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow was unanimously approved without debate.

"I will not plan to add more as Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak's opening speech at the Penang State Legislative Assembly had represented the state government's firm stance on the concern about the Palestinian issue.

"I ask this honourable house to show solidarity with Palestine, and I proceed with this motion without a need for debate," he said.

On Nov 17, when speaking at the opening of the Penang state assembly meeting, Ahmad Fuzi called for an immediate end to all acts of violence, killings and cruelty against the Palestinian people.

He said the ongoing conflict and war has resulted in great suffering for the Palestinian people, with civilians especially innocent women and children being killed and many other people losing their homes.
