General Manager and Secretary of the Selangor State Economic Development (PKNS) board will be called to provide their statement to the state government, said Selangor Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Khalid said the action was taken following the various statements and speculations made after the dismissal of Bukit Antarabangsa State Assemblyman, Azmin Ali from PKNS.

In a statement to the media today, Khalid said the state government had noted the remarks made by Selangor Economic Advisor, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in relation to the membership and dismissal of PKNS board of directors.

“We feel that his statement reflects the attitude of a good leader. Taking into account his position and status, the Menteri Besar and the State Exco members sees it necessary to weigh his request before making any decision,” said Khalid.

Khalid stressed that the Menteri Besar and other Exco members are bound to the PKNS Enactment and has the responsibility to correct any mistakes relating to this matter.

He said before a final decision is made by the Exco, the PKNS board of directors will remain as directed by PKNS General Manager in order to avoid legal complications.

“This is not a pressing issue which involves the public. The state government is asking for the people to remain patient and not believe any speculations until a decision is made by the Exco members,” said Khalid.

In a press conference today, Anwar had stressed that the dismissal of Azmin from the PKNS board of directors was not valid as it was done without following the regulations provided.
