The Barisan Nasional today won the Kuala Kangsar by-election with a 6,969 vote majority.

BN's candidate Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid garnered 12,653 votes while PAS's Dr Najihatussalehah Ahmad received 5,684 votes and Prof Dr Ahmad Termizi Ramli of Parti Amanah Negara polled 4,883 votes.

Independent candidate Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary received 54 votes.

There are 32,949 registered voters eligible to cast their votes for the by-election comprising 32,632 ordinary voters, 312 (early voters) and five absentee voters who were abroad.

The Kuala Kangsar by-election is being held following the death of the MP, Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad, in a helicopter crash in Sarawak on May 5.
