Emerging markets are more positive in their outlook with economies supported by solid fundamentals and resilient financial systems for growth.

Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz said although there had been moderation in growth, it was due to temporary factors of restructuring, rebalancing.

"Therefore, we see growth potential in subsequent years," she added, at the CNN Debate on the Global Economy, in conjunction with the 2014 IMF Annual General Meetings in Washington from Oct 10-12.

Zeti was a panelist at the CNN Debate. The transcript of her presentation was released by BNM here today.

She said emerging markets, particularly in Asia, are now better able to intermediate volatility because the economy had stronger financial systems, and more developed financial markets.

"This is able to really deal with the volatility that we expect as a result of changes in the direction of policies," she added.

Zeti also emphasised that it was important that structural reform be accompanied by pro-growth policies.

"This is important in financial policies, access to financing, specific target sectors and or small and medium-scale enterprises," she added.
