JELI: A total of 10 localities have been identified in Kelantan for the second phase of the Keluarga Malaysia Hardcore Poverty Eradication (BMTKM) programme involving a total of 916 hardcore poor heads of households (KIR).

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said among the localities involved were Kusial in Tanah Merah, Temangan in Machang and Peringat in Kota Bharu.

"Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) as a strategic partner of the BMTKM programme has started to implement the mapping process for phase two localities in Kelantan since the end of October.

"The process is expected to be finalised by the end of this month," he told reporters after officiating the planting of herb trees for the BMTKM 2022-2025 at the Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Rual, here today.

Commenting further, Mustapa said this mapping process was carried out to analyse KIR and hardcore poor household members individually and community, based on the potential to help identify appropriate programmes and activities for them to work on.

"Based on the national poverty data bank (eKasih) until Oct 31, Kelantan recorded a total of 12,470 out of 127,684 KIR nationwide.

"The government is committed to achieving zero hardcore poverty by the end of 2025 as set out in the 12th Malaysia Plan," he said.

He said the second phase of BMTKM will start at the beginning of December involving 110 localities and 10,000 KIR nationwide.
