KUALA LUMPUR:A cooperation between UMNO and DAP to form a government is not impossible, said former Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) member, Datuk A. Kadir Jasin.

According to him, UMNO could consider a cooperation with DAP to attract the support of non-Malays who were not with Barisan Nasional (BN).

“Is UMNO who are desperate to return to power not thinking of working with a strong party like DAP?

"Barisan Nasional (BN) is dying. MCA and MIC can no longer attract non-Malay votes. The Chinese and Indian votes have been monopolised by DAP," he said in a statement on his personal Facebook.

Kadir also argued that the DAP, which formed the government with Pakatan Harapan (PH) and also wanting to return to power, could form a new coalition, including with UMNO.

“It is not surprising if DAP, which once enjoyed power through PH, aspires to return to Putrajaya through a new coalition that includes UMNO.

“If Dr Mahathir Mohamad can work with DAP, PKR and Amanah to overthrow BN, does UMNO not think of the same method?

“Wallahu’alam. Such are the tricks and political manoeuvres where conspiracy is not just a theory but can turn into reality," he added.

In his writing, Kadir also revealed that he received a message via WhatsApp from a Hong Kong-based fund manager about the cooperation between the two parties.

The message was received last Friday evening, the day Chenderiang State Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu lost support as Perak Menteri Besar.

On Friday, Ahmad Faizal, who is also the Bersatu deputy president and Member of Parliament for Tambun, failed to get the support of the majority of the state's elected representatives in a vote of confidence to maintain his position as menteri besar.

A total of 48 votes rejected the motion of confidence compared to 10 who supported it besides another spoilt or neutral vote.

The motion was brought by Pengkalan Baru Assemblyman from UMNO, Datuk Abd Manaf Hashim.
