The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission clarified today it had never issued any statement saying that 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) is not under investigation.

MACC director of strategic communications Datuk Rohaizad Yaakob said that in a statement dated Sept 22 the MACC had only stated that it was not involved in the investigation on 1MDB.

He said 1MDB, the government-owned strategic development company, was being investigated by the police and, as such, any query on the issue must be referred to the police.

"The matter was also clearer following the statement made by the Inspector-General of Police yesterday and an explanation before that through an MACC media statement dated Aug 5.

"As such, the MACC hopes that no quarters will issue statements saying that the MACC has cleared parties involved in the 1MDB issue," he said in a statement in reference to a media statement released by 1MDB today.
