The water capacity of several dams in Selangor are now at satisfactory level, said Deputy Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.

Mahdzir was positive that despite the hot weather and dry season starting soon, the supply of clean water this year would be better compared to same period last year.

"As at yesterday, the water level of Sungai Selangor Dam was at 80 percent, Sungai Tinggi Dam was at 70 percent and it was at 100 percent at Klang Gates Dam while Sungai Langat Dam was almost at 100 percent.

"Based on the overall supply of raw water from these dams, we are confident that we would be in a better position than last year," he told reporters after an anti-dengue gotong-royong programme at Kampung Melayu Batu 16 here Sunday.

Sections of Selangor and the Klang Valley experienced scheduled water rationing for three months between February and April last year following a shortage of water supply during the period last year after a prolonged hot and dry season.
