The three Pas executive committee (exco) members in the Selangor government will remain in the administration unless the palace instructs them to step down.

Pas secretary-general, Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan reiterated the party’s stand citing the Constitution provision to support his decision.

“In Selangor, the state Constitution states that an exco member holds a position with the consent of the Sultan of Selangor or the otherwise,” says Takiyuddin.

He added, a similar situation occurred in 1996 when Semangat 46 left Angkatan Perpaduan Ummah (APU).

During that episode, Pas did not strip any of Semangat 46 exco members in the Kelantan government but UMNO had instructed them to do so.

In Kelantan, PKR members who accepted the political appointment were given the opportunity to resume their positions, said Takiyuddin.

“If they have to follow the party’s instruction to release their posts, it is up to them,” he added.
The exco members’ positions and the political appointment in Selangor will be discussed in Pas Central Protem committee soon.

Kelantan Pas communication secretary, Datuk Che Abdullah Mat Nawi said there are 63 PKR members hold the political appointment in the state.

He said that the party has not received any official resignation letters from any of them.
