Public Accounts Committee (PAC) members should focus on evidence-based investigations on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and stop issuing prejudicial statements.

PAC member Datuk Liang Teck Meng said such members should carry out their duty as a Member of Parliament (MP) and focus on the facts and evidence presented to the PAC hence not creating any untrue perception.

"I advise this particular member to stop playing dirty politics and honourably discharge his duty as a member of parliament and duty to the public and focus on facts and evidence based investigations and judgement on 1MDB," said Liang, who is also Simpang Renggam MP, in a statement posted on his Facebook page today.

Liang however, did not name the member in the PAC.

It was reported that DAP’s Petaling Jaya Utara Member of Parliament Tony Pua, had posted in his Facebook about exposing "crooks" behind 1MDB on Jan 1.

"You owe it to your voters to uncover the real truth and not create untrue perceptions, Yang Berhormat. Stop playing games," said Liang.

Liang said no sane person would try to prejudice and dishonour himself and the PAC in such a manner unless this person has a hidden political agenda that is not based on the truth or on factual evidence.

"This begs the question if this particular PAC member deliberately wants to be suspended or removed from the PAC inquiry into 1MDB by very clearly and repeatedly breaking the standing orders of the Parliament and the PAC?

"This Yang Berhormat has obviously based his allegations on his own biased opinion and not on the accounts nor on the interviews of the many witnesses that the PAC had called on so far – and certainly not based on what the auditors have told us.

"By literally begging for a suspension, ahead of the final findings of the PAC inquiry into 1MDB, does he want to pre-empt the findings to play the victim in order to create a public perception that he has been unfairly blocked from "uncovering the truth and exposing the crooks"? he added.
